Join AARP Colorado for NeighborWalks. Enjoy guided walks through some of Denver’s most beautiful and interesting neighborhoods. Come meet others in your community, learn the history and join the fun. Walks will be led by a local historian.
The goal of NeighborWalks is to get more people walking every day for health, transportation, environment, and community.
NeighborWalks take place in neighborhoods around Denver and is designed to be inclusive and to help Denver residents explore the city’s diverse neighborhoods, learn about the local history and celebrate livability and community for all ages. The walks are themed, educational and social events that bring neighbors together to explore neighborhoods and enjoy the cities walking and pedestrian infrastructure, historic and cultural districts, parks and public spaces.
Check out the walks we have planned for you in September, register for one or all of them!
Monday, September 12: Alamo Placita/Park Club Place, 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
We start at a distinctive pocket park and make our way into an elite section adjacent to the Denver Country Club.
Friday, September 16: North Denver, 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
Meet at Columbus Park, West. 38th Avenue between Navajo and Osage streets. The focus of this tour is on the heart of the old Little Italy area, a rapidly gentrifying section.
Thursday, September 22, Washington Park, 5:00 PM–7:00 PM
We learn about the Eugene Field presence in Denver while touring the city’s most popular park.
Monday, September 26: Berkeley, 5:00 PM–7:00 PM
Elitch’s and Lakeside once were central to the independent town of Berkeley. In the process, we discover where Elvis sang in a church choir while we walk down the highly popular Tennyson Terrace.
All walks are two hours and about 1 1/2 — 2 miles are covered.
We look forward to seeing you there!
